How much does a stone bathtub cost in India? What decides the price

A stone bathtub can cost anything from under a lakh to well over fifty lakh rupees. The big gaps come down to the stone, the size and the hand work. This guide shows indicative price ranges in India and explains what decides where a tub falls.

The short answer: indicative price ranges in India

These are indicative ranges seen in the Indian market in 2026. They are general market figures, not an Avtikes price list, and they change with size, stone and finish. Always check what a quote includes.

SegmentIndicative price (₹)What you typically get
Standard marble and granite tubs82,000 to 1,50,000Standard sizes in Indian marble or granite
Mid-range and specialty stone tubs1,50,000 to 3,50,000Solid stone, sandstone, or textured marble and travertine designs
Luxury and designer hand-carved tubs4,00,000 to 7,00,000+Statement hand-carved pieces, Italian grey or Statuario marble builds, custom-veined dark stone
Ultra-luxury, imported and custom10,00,000 to 60,00,000+Rare onyx, large custom architectural blocks, heavy Italian marble centrepieces, and translucent quartzite such as Cristallo

What decides the price

  • The stone. Common Indian marble and granite cost the least. Rare, imported or translucent stones such as onyx and Cristallo quartzite cost far more, because good slabs are scarce and many are lost in cutting.
  • Size and thickness. A larger tub needs a bigger block of stone, and a bigger block means more material, more wastage and a heavier piece to cut, polish and move.
  • How much is carved by hand. A simple oval is quicker to make than a faceted, fluted or carved form. Hand carving takes days of skilled work, and it is the main cost in designer pieces.
  • Matching and selection. Choosing a block with the colour and veining you want, with no flaws, adds cost. Rare patterns cost more.
  • Finish. Polishing the inside and outside, honing, sealing and fine detail take time.
  • Lighting. A backlit tub needs a translucent stone, a thinner cut and built-in lighting, which raises the price. See our guide to how backlit stone works in a bathroom.

Where the Cristallo quartzite backlit tub sits

Pieces made in translucent Cristallo quartzite belong in the ultra-luxury segment. Our Faceted Backlit Bathtub is made in this stone. The faceted form is carved by hand, and the stone is selected for how it glows when lit from behind.

Costs beyond the tub

Ask what the price includes. Budget separately for packing and crating, transport, lifting and installation, any floor strengthening, plumbing and taps, tax, and import duties if the tub is shipped abroad. A solid stone tub is very heavy, so check your floor with an engineer before you order.

How to keep the budget under control

  • Choose the stone for the look you want. A dramatic marble or granite can give a luxury effect without the cost of rare onyx.
  • Pick a simpler form. A clean oval costs less to make than a heavily carved or faceted shape.
  • Skip the backlight if you do not need it.
  • Decide the size and position early, so the piece is made once and does not need changes.
  • Share your budget with us at the start, and we will suggest stone and designs that fit.

Common questions

How much does a marble bathtub cost in India?

As a guide, standard Indian marble and granite tubs are in the range of ₹82,000 to ₹1,50,000. Designer hand-carved marble tubs cost more, from about ₹4,00,000, and imported or rare-stone pieces cost much more. These are indicative market ranges, not Avtikes prices.

Why is an onyx bathtub so expensive?

Onyx is rare, good slabs are hard to find, and the stone is delicate to cut and finish. Translucent stone that glows when lit also needs careful selection, so the price rises.

Is a stone bathtub worth the cost?

A stone tub is a lasting piece that can stay beautiful for decades with sealing and gentle cleaning. It holds heat well and is a feature in itself, which is why many buyers treat it as a long-term investment.

Does the price include shipping and installation?

It depends on the quote. Always ask what is included. Transport, crating, lifting, installation, plumbing and tax can be quoted separately.

Can I order a custom size?

Yes. Avtikes makes tubs to your dimensions, stone and finish. Send your drawings and we will quote the piece.
